Techniques for Recovering IT Projects Presenter: Kristi Ivers, MBA, PMP IT Project Delivery Manager for the State of Oregon’s Office of Information Services Based on a 2017 report in the PM World Journal, almost 25% of IT projects experience failure and 50% require rework. IT projects can fail or require rework for a number of reasons. Maybe your budget was reduced, the deadlines were unrealistic or you lost your key technical team lead. If any of this sounds familiar, you’re not alone! The success or failure ultimately depends on of your actions to recover the project. We will examine 3 early warning signs that projects are in trouble and 7 techniques that are crucial for recovering IT projects. Working to recover a project that is in trouble can be one of the most challenging and rewarding assignments you will ever receive as a project manager. Presenter Bio: Kristi Ivers, PMP, MBA has over 15 years of IT project management experience. Kristi is currently the IT Project Delivery Manager with Oregon’s Office of Information Services (OIS). OIS’ project portfolio includes technology projects ranging in size from $150,000 to over $200 million. Inclusive Leadership David Baldridge, Ph.D Associate Professor of Management Oregon State University David will lead us in an interactive discussion on leadership, highlighting the differences between leadership and management and styles and behaviors associated with leadership effectiveness. We will discuss leadership models and learnable behaviors associated with leadership effectiveness and inclusive leadership and discuss how participants can improve in these behaviors. About the Presenter David C. Baldridge is a Newcomb Fellow and Associate Professor of Management. He earned his Ph.D. in Management from the University of Connecticut, Storrs. His MBA in Finance and BGS with concentrations in Economics, English and Philosophy are from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. His teaching and research interests include: individual difference, perceptions, organizational behavior, organizational adaptation and technology utilization. His research has appeared in the Academy of Management Review, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Management, Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology, Journal of International Business Studies, Human Resource Management Review Journal of Business Communication and other leading management publications.
