Volunteer for the 2021 Project Management Conference! There’s opportunity to be involved to make our 2021 annual conference another big success. It’s been great working with our partner Oregon Project Management Advisory Board, who will be leading the effort this year as PM. There are several available positions to be involved, most critical being the financial support to help develop the budget and authorize expenses.

Join your fellow Project Managers throughout the Central Oregon area to network and discuss your projects, hosted by Central Oregon Branch President, Krista Cooper. For the month of June, we are welcomed with a presentation from George Fenton on "How to Create DevSecOps in Local Government (Brainstorming Discussion)." So, how do you implement DevSecOps when you have hybrid outsourced/inhouse Devs, limited and scattered Sec, but do a lot of Ops to support your business units with the regulatory compliance and audit umbrella to manage? By implementing the project management mindset. This presentation is a brainstorm discussion on how a local government’s IT shop is planning on revamping the approach to information security so that effective metrics are utilized to convey information to both internal and external stakeholders. We will start with the theory of DevSecOps, the mission of a local government, the problem statements, and the various paths to address them. Our goal is to discuss what path would be the “most prudent” for a local government to follow.

The “secret” code to success and advancement in any organization is to make yourself more valuable, align with organizational goals, attract like-minded individuals who want to make a difference, integrate key skills from a variety of disciplines, and take the initiative. People who do these things may be able to function as a project office of one—a POO. Their actions are effective because they form a clear vision, establish a set of priorities, and set processes in place to implement those priorities. They become vested in and are held accountable for delivering desired outcomes, not just for practicing their functional skills. These people have become complete project managers. Join us in discovering how to manifest this career enhancing approach.
