September 2018 Corvallis Lunch Meeting
Rules: Meant to Be Broken?
Group Discussion
Organizations from government to Amazon rely on “best practices” and established procedures to ensure that daily operations run smoothly. Project managers at all levels follow reliable, consistently applied processes to ensure quality outcomes. But when bureaucratic rules become less about measurable, repeatable processes and more about “putting new cover sheets on all the TPS reports,” is it time to break the rules? Is skipping steps in the process ever justified? Other than for legal or safety reasons, are there rules and procedures in your workplace that can/should be occasionally overlooked?
Join the Willamette Valley Chapter of the Project Management Institute for a lively discussion of how, when, and why to throw the rulebook out the window.
