April 2018 Corvallis Lunch Meeting
2017 Eclipse Disaster Planning
Mike Bamberger
Emergency Preparedness Manager
Emergency Preparedness Program/Enterprise Risk Services
Oregon State University
The normally-peaceful Willamette Valley was a perfect place to be for the 2017 eclipse since it was in the path of totality. The downside was that it seemed everyone else in the world wanted to be here, too! All of our worst fears about food/water shortages, stalled emergency services, power outages, and traffic from hell nearly came to pass – except for One Man. Find out how Mike averted potential disaster by using the only tool capable of handling this scenario: the Incident Command System.
