March 2017 Salem Lunch Meeting
Avoiding Project Management Burn-Out: Please Learn From My Mistakes (also known as If I knew then what I know now...) Presenter: Sarah Miller Having recently spent five weeks on vacation between jobs, Sarah has done some reflecting on what she should have done differently in order to avoid the burn-out she experienced in recent years and its impact on her family. Come have a frank discussion about strategies that she will use in the future! This presentation fits the criteria to comply with the Leadership value of 1 PDU. Our Presenter....... Sarah S. Miller recently left state government for a consulting firm called Audacious Inquiry where she is Senior Director for Health Information Systems. Until recently, Sarah was the Chief Operating Officer for Technology at the Oregon Department of Human Services, including serving as the Project Director for the DHS Integrated Eligibility Determination Project. This project was built to expand on technology implemented in Sarah's previous MAGI Medicaid System Transfer Project (otherwise known as the Cover Oregon mop-up effort). She spent her days and nights in state government developing and implementing technology to support fundamental service delivery model changes in health and human service programs. Before her time at DHS, she was the Deputy Chief Operating Office for Oregon state government where she worked closely with former COO Michael Jordan to develop the Enterprise Leadership Team and the Improving Government Steering Committee. While at the Department of Administrative Services, Sarah also served as the project manager for the 10-Year Plan for Oregon — the state’s first attempt at developing a strategic plan that crosses agency boundaries.
